game over for paper tiger

paper tiger has decided to pull the plug, and will not be playing together as a band any more!

with most band members busy doing other projects, work and/or studies, it has been difficult to fit paper tiger into an already hectic schedule.

without doubt, you will still be able to catch both mike (aviator lane) and tim (little ice age) at gigs in adelaide, and possibly around the country in not too long.

as for myself (simon), i will probably initiate something new soon (any dedicated musicians, feel free to contact me!).

thanks everyone for your support, and please keep supporting local bands :)

all the best!

gig at prince albert cancelled!

we haven't announced it, and i'm not sure what the streetpress says, but the gig at the prince albert this coming thursday, april 28, has been cancelled.

cheers!

summer's leaving

...i suppose it is now officially autumn, and summer is leaving us in front (sound familiar?). last night's gig at the grace emily was really nice - becus served us some beautiful tunes, and i hope we get to catch up with those guys soon.

apart from a show at the prince albert in late april, it looks as though paper tiger will be taking a little break. alicia will be heading for a trip to japan, mike will be going all over the world for a couple of months over winter, and i hope to chase the sun over in norway for a few weeks.

hopefully we'll be back on track in late july/august, and, if finances pick up, we might possibly record something ready for release before the end of 2005.

thanks to everyone who came along last night - hope to see you again at the prince albert in late april. details will be up soon :)

gig: the grace emily

we're playing at the grace emily this saturday the 2nd of april, and as you know (if you subscribe to the newsletter), tim won't be able to play bass/drums this time because of a soccer injury.

nonetheless, we're still looking forward to play and hope to see some familiar faces there :)

as far as i know, we're on last at around 11-11:30pm:

grace emily, waymouth st, city
saturday april 2
paper tiger w/becus (melb) and leisuresuit
free entry

cheers!

gig @ the lizard lounge :: march 26

we will be doing a benefit gig at the lizard lounge, where, admittedly, i have not been since the place was hosting pizza hut (that’s where i discovered self-serve soft-serve for the first time –- unheard of in norway, of course). money raised will go towards helping sudanese refugees.

there is a great lineup, and it’s an all-ages event, so come along, young and old :) not really sure what order bands will be playing, but here is a suggestion... first band is on last, i.e. i think we're on second.

mkb, little ice age, the weary dunlops, spatial monkey, new pollutants, boh monkey, paper tiger and business as usual.

the lizard lounge is on hindley st. in the city, and first band would probably be on around 7pm, if not earlier.

bye bye

pt + art of fighting @ jive

you might already have heard by now (i hope so, since this notice is unlawfully late), but on thursday the 17th of march, paper tiger will be supporting art of fighting at jive. exciting stuff for us, and especially for a couple of paper tigers, who are head over heels about it, as aof is in their top 1 list of favourite bands, at least :)

also playing is no through road, with a band this time, and maybe a helmet ;)

tickets are $18 inc. booking fee, and can be purchased from cib outlets such as big star records.

:: thursday march 17 @ hive (hindley st, adelaide)
:: art of fighting, paper tiger & no through road
:: doors open at 8pm, no through road on first at 9pm sharp (be there, or be... elsewhere!)

cheers!

gig @ the grace emily

our one and only gig in february happens on the 24th at the grace emily, details below:

thu feb 24 @ the grace emily
w/the red wall & jamaica bastiras
free entry, 9pm

i think we're on last, but hopefully not too late for those of us who have to get up early the next day.

in march we have three gigs lined up, stay tuned for more details.

cheers

paper tiger #40 on three d radio top 100+1

adelaide's finest local radio station, three d radio, announced their top 100+1 artists of 2004 (essentially the most frequent played artists on the station), and we're excited to find ourselves at number 40 on the list!

many many many thanks to three d for playing our songs!

since we didn't make triple j's top 100 this year, i guess we have to release something in 2005 ;)

gig @ the grace w/frente!

this sunday (jan. 30 2005) we feel very honoured to be supporting band for frente at the grace emily.

a little out of the ordinary, but you should be aware that there is a $15 charge to get in. doors to the back area will probably open around 9pm. paper tiger on first, then frente.

cheers!

downtime in cyberspace

...no, it's not a band name, although it would be a pretty cool one... just wanted to apologise for the 2-week-or-so downtime of this site.

everything should be sorted now, but we missed out on telling you about this tsunami benefit gig we did on wednesday the 19th of jan at the jade monkey with aviator lane and wolf & cub. lots of people = lots of money raised = good night for body and soul. thanks to everyone who were there!

3xj hottest 100

happy new year everyone!

just surfed by the triple j website and noticed that they now collect votes for the hottest 100 songs of 2004.

our song, 'castle in the sand', is on their complete list of tunes from which you can pick your favourites. to find out more, please click here. would be great if you voted for us!

cheers!

ps! we're doing a gig at the exeter (rundle st) this saturday the 8th, hope to see you then.

seasons' greetings

it's that time again ... it's been a very cool year for paper tiger, and we'd like to thank everyone who's been involved in one way or another (that includes coming to our gigs, visiting this site etc.). i think we've just about managed to pay back the money we owed from making our ep, so hopefully we'll be able to record again soon.

in the meanwhile, have a great xmas and a happy new year - our first gig in 2005 will be at the exeter (rundle st.) on january 8.

see you next year!
